Brian Riste

I'm a developer in Minneapolis. I build applications and the cloud infrastructure underneath them, on and off the clock.

What I do

Infrastructure. I write Terraform for AWS and Azure. I have shipped more than forty applications into EKS clusters through Jenkins pipelines, and helped get a company out of its on-premises data center.

Applications. Enterprise web software in C#/.NET, Node, React and Vue on top of SQL. Clients bring the designs and the requirements; I turn them into something that holds up across browsers and devices.

Leading the work. I led a team of engineers moving applications to the cloud. I sat with Fortune 500 teams, took what they needed, and shipped it.

Language models. Transcription pipelines, ad detection, training advice. I keep these provider-neutral on purpose, so they run against a hosted model or one sitting on your own machine.

Where I've worked

Since Aug 2026

Senior Software Engineer, Jamf

2022–26

Team Lead, BSC Analytics

I joined as a DevOps engineer and moved up to lead. I ran the cloud migrations and wrote the Terraform modules the whole organization builds on, and spent more than a year each with two large, highly regulated financial firms, moving decades of on-premises software without breaking it.

2020–22

Back End Developer III, Fjorge

Enterprise web applications built to client designs and requirements, mostly in C#, .NET, React and SQL. I worked with a lot of different clients and picked up whatever stack each one needed.

2018–20

Business Systems Analyst, Plus Relocation

Vue, Node, Go and Docker on Azure DevOps. My coworkers nominated me for the 2019 Values in Action award for Radical Integrity and I won it.
